Laying anti-slip rug underlay onto hard flooring (ie wood, tiles or stone) by The Oriental Rug Gallery Ltd
We stock and supply to order a best quality, durable, anti-slip rug underlay to protect and cushion the weave foundation (underside) of your rug or oriental carpet, or flatwoven pieces including: kilim, aubusson, suzani and sumak, while ensuring a secure hold to any surface.
Made of modern materials in its construction, this underlay product carries the ‘Confidence in Textiles’ Certification, which ensures it can be used safely on smooth/hard flooring surfaces such as: wood, stone, marble, tiles, laminates, textile flooring surfaces such as: vinyl and fitted carpet, as well as being suitable to use with under-floor heating systems.
Unlike older varieties of underlay, which overtime and with prolonged use, may disintegrate or thin out quickly, our professional anti-slip rug underlay product utilises a micro-fibre finish to ensure it grips securely, while cushioning and protecting your weavings. Ultimately, this prevents kilims, rugs and oriental carpets from rucking, creeping, slippage or creases and ridges forming.
Our underlay is cut to size for each individual kilim, rug or oriental carpet here at the Gallery, which may come as one or more pieces ~ depending on the size required. Our underlay is easy to carry, fit and lay out at home under your piece. It also has the added bonus of being machine washable making it infinitely re-useable, with a longevity of use.
So please contact us to discuss your underlay requirements. Meanwhile, you can view our videos (right) on how to layout your underlay on either a hard floor or carpeted surface once purchased, where Terms and Conditions apply.
We undertake an ingenious, durable and concealed wall hanging technique that was devised by Anas, The Oriental Rug Gallery Ltd's Rug and Oriental Carpet Specialist and Master Rug Craftsman, for any type of rug, tapestry or textile, in any size.
The piece will lie flush to the wall, when mounted on either picture hooks or screws (not supplied) secured to a wall. Alternatively, should you decide to lay your rug, carpet or tapestry to view on the floor, the hanging rail can be easily removed from its secure casing and the piece will lie flat on any floor surface.
Anas will carefully assess the size, weight, condition and value of each individual piece brought to The Oriental Rug Gallery Ltd for our hanging technique service prior to any work being undertaken, to ensure it can be properly and evenly supported and conserved by the hanging apparatus.
We are happy to discuss your rug wall hanging requirements, so please contact us for more information.
We believe that every hand-woven rug, Oriental carpet and tapestry is a treasured piece of craftsmanship, and would therefore benefit from professinal and rug specialist recognition, with our Written Rug Valuation Service.
Whether you have inherited a family heirloom, purchased a weaving abroad, house an investment piece, or just want to know more about the history and value of your rug, oriental carpet and tapestry and the details if it has a woven inscription, we can help by undertaking a certified, true and accurate Written Rug Valuation. Or if you have experienced a flood, fire, theft or damage of your rug, oriental carpet or tapestry and require a professional Written Valuation as proof of your investment for insurance purposes, our specialist Written Rug Valuation Service is here to help.
Our professional, insurance-approved Written Rug Valuation Service is undertaken by Anas – the Gallery’s Rug and Oriental Carpet Specialist, Rug Dealer and fourth-generation Master Rug Craftsmen, who has more than 30 years rug expertise, knowledge, skills and authority in the rug and carpet field, combined with 100-year-old family rug business expertise. Sandre – the Gallery’s Decorative Woven Arts Creative contributes to the process with Art History knowledge, research and writing skills, and design and decorative weavings experience.
The Oriental Rug Gallery Ltd's Written Rug Valuation service is suitable for all types of rugs, oriental carpets and tapestries, where a variation of this form can be undertaken for Loss Adjustment Reporting purposes. This service normally takes 4-5 working days to complete, once the actual piece has first been reviewed, assessed, catalogued and photographed by us, here at the Rug Gallery.
If customers are unable to bring their pieces to the Rug Gallery for the Written Rug Valuation review and assessment process, we can still complete a valuation provided we are supplied with good quality, detailed photographic images of the front and back of the piece from an insurance company, acting their behalf. Here, requests are assessed on an individual basis, where a variation on the form of the above Written Rug Valuation/Loss Adjustment Reporting Service may then be undertaken.
Our Written Rug Valuation documentation provides an in-depth review and thorough assessment of pieces, and includes the following information: the country of origin, type, description, age or circa thereof, condition, materials and dye types, size, quality, knot density, type of knot, technical analysis of the spun threads, and value of the rug in the present market.
Please kindly note: as we undertake a professional written rug valuation service, with signed and certified documentation of works for our customers, we are, therefore, unable to provide email or jotted down notations that can neither act as an official valuation of the piece nor as a validated note assessment of a rug, carpet or tapestry. Nor can we act on requests for estimated valuations and/or details of rug images proffered via phone, text or emails; nor supply samples of this professional service thereof.
If you would like to go ahead with our Written Rug Valuation Service, please email this request in writing and we will send you the guidelines on how to proceed and the prices for this service.
"Our hallway rug no longer slides along our parquet flooring, since we placed your hi-tech underlay underneath it. I have since washed it and it comes up a treat, with the grip still working, unlike our old rubber underlay, which completely disintegrated once we managed to peel it off the back of our rug!
M Moorley-Rowe, Oxfordshire
"Why ever did we not think of this before?! We now have complete piece of mind with our rug's real investment value safeguarded, and also learnt a lot about its provenance and inscription through your Written Valuation, which is so meticulously laid out. Brilliant, Thanks so much!"
T Davison, Surrey
"The living room wall has been redefined by our Hereke silk rug, which you have so expertly created as a wall hanging, giving it a new lease of life and a lot of admiration from our friends. Dad is especially pleased to see our family heirloom on display and no longer rolled up in the attic."
